I don't see any threats to any major tenet of Chrisitianity even if it is true.

    I didn't say threats sly.

If I were trying to stir the pot, I'd have made some comment like "You mean he commited suicide by proxy?"...

Another problem I have with this theory is that it reinstates Judas as one of the twelve. Revelation clearly states there will be twelve apostles and the heads of the twelve tribes of Israel to stand in judgment over Israel, so that can only mean Judas takes Paul's place (or more precisely, Paul never replaced Judas). I just can't swallow that. Paul did more to spread the Gospel of Christ than any of the remaining eleven, probably combined.

Another problem is why would Jesus pull such a cloak-and-dagger, backroom stunt like this? There were more than enough people outside His inner circle that would've gladly turned Him over to the Pharisees. It was just a matter of time. It's not like He was trying to hide. The only counter I can think of is maybe it was prophecy that one of His own would betray him.

I have to tell you, between that Pope thing and the possibility that we may be restoring the 12 heads and all, I really have to wonder whether we are not entering the whole Armagedon stuff. :1peekdoor

So, someone that takes that view would have a lot to lose given this version of Judas's story, huh? :)

Not really. I could be wrong about that and lost nothing except for a little understanding in my limited perception of the big picture. Maybe that really did happen. Maybe Judas will be sitting on one of the 24 thrones next to Matthew and the gang. The way it reads, it just doesn't fit what I've come to understand as Jesus' style of teaching and interacting with people, especially His disciples. That's all I'm saying. If I'm wrong, it's not like the whole thing unravels.
