I guess we'll know if Mora, Jr. will be our new DC next week.

49ers | New Coach Next Week? - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
7:47 PT: Can Inman reports for the Contra Costa Times Bill Walsh said Friday that he expects the San Francisco 49ers to name their new coach next week. "Last night, I talked to Terry (GM Terry Donahue). I didn't pay attention to the list of names, but Terry's doing a great job and being very methodical," Walsh said by phone from the Bay Area. "I'm sure he'll be ready a week from today. I think that's the time he'll have his man."

I'd say the odds are good from what I hear from one of my writer friends out in the Valley.

Why don't we (or any other needy team) plunder the Bucs coaching staff???? Let's steal someone good from our competition for a change.
Tampa is winning a Superbowl and will probably come back intact next year. We win 7 friggin' games on a weak schedule and we get raped.
That 4th and Wallace for ol' "what's his name" looks better and better, but I bet we screw up and let Wallace go and blow that damn extra 4th rounder too.

Isn't there a coach of one of our division rivals who would help us and hurt them as our new DC?

I don’t give a damn how old he is, the Bucs defense rocks and if that is largely due to Kiffin then bring him on! If there is a younger defensive coach (LB or secondary maybe) that they are grooming to take Kiffin’s place then let’s steal HIM.
It's pretty passive to just let our rivals remain intact (and flourishing) while we get scavenged. I say we stop playing polite and nice. Nice guys come in last, and if the Aints ever learn how to win in December we WILL be last.

I think you have to give Kiffin more credit.
    I just found this -

    From ESPN:

The 49ers are in the process of asking permission to interview Bucs defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin for their vacant head coaching position, ESPN.com's John Clayton reports.

Kiffin's Tampa defense was No. 1 in the NFL this season. Under his guidance, the Bucs shut down the Raiders' high-powered offense in Sunday's 48-21 Super Bowl XXXVII rout. Members of Tampa's defensive unit gave Kiffin lots of credit for coming up with the battleplan to stop the Raiders.

"You've got to love playing for the guy," defensive end Simeon Rice of Kiffin. "He takes every player, figures out what his strengths are, and designs something to (accentuate) them. The guy is flat-out brilliant."

    Monte Kiffin = Buddy Ryan

    Great D coordinator, I don't think he'd be a great head coach.

He used to coach NC State...and that didn't go so well.

So when the fuck are we going to find out who our DC is? I thought this was supposed to be wrapped up Super Bowl week.
