i found Him but not on blueberry hill...He said...

"....I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Just to be with you, I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'd give anything
I would give my life away.

I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
How may times has he broken that promise
    It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

I know that you don't understand
    the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize
how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.

Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away."

A trooper in the calvary once wrote:

The bugle sounds and the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath
As I plunge on into certain death.

    nice avatar, smith!

Thanks, Lex. I didn't think that the gif would work as an avatar. It was a little tricky.

This sounds like it could be an exerpt from "The Charge lf the Light Brigade." Is it?

    Jazzredcat,

This is from the song The Trooper by the group Iron Maiden.

They do write lyrics about actually historical events quite a bit. The do sing to the poem The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. I think the Charge of the Light Brigade poem did inspire this song.

    Here is the whole song:

You'll take my life but I'll take yours too, you'll fire your musket but I'll run you through
So when you're waiting for the next attack, you'd better stand there's no turning back
The bugle sounds and the charge begins, but on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath, as I plunge on into certain death

    (chorus) yelling

The horse he sweats with fear we break to run, the mighty roar of the Russian guns
And as we race toward the human wall, the screams of pain as my comrades fall
We hurdle bodies that lay on the ground, and the Russians fire another round
We get so near yet so far away, we won't live to fight another day

    (chorus) yelling

We get so close near enough to fight, when a Russian gets me in his sights
He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow, a burst of rounds take my horse below
And as I lay there gazing at the sky, my body's numb and my throat is dry
And as I lay forgotten and alone, without a tear I draw my parting groan

Calvary is the hill that Christ was crusified on, Cavalry is a mounted army unit. I believe Sparticus used Elephants against the Romans, or do I have that backwardsLOL, then JEB Stewart started moving artillary peices around the battle field thus confussing the enemy, then along come a chap named Gedderrian (sp) and his Blitzkreig and now we have the 2nd Armor Division poised to storm across the deserts of Iraq yet again.

Yes Maiden did write about history and mythology a good bit....

The Trooper is a killer tune, in fact Imma go dowlnload it now.
