Yes on Oklahoma. Big yes. Thinking of betting more than usual yes. EVERYone at work keeps telling me about how Texas Tech will keep it close. Bullshit. They must not be paying attention. The total is set at 73-75 and the only way they get close to it is if Oklahoma scores 50.

    1-0 so far.

I actually went to bed when it was 31-6. Whew.

    And kshead

I don't like that bet. Maybe its the SEC in me, but big point speads scare me off of picking favorites, particuarly when the other team is decent. Hell, I nearly bet on Baylor last week, and kicked myself when I didn't. 50 points? And people were taking Oklahoma. It was a blowout, and they still didn't cover.

:D I gave you a nod over in the TCU thread. I went to bed the same time you did but managed to catch the 22 straight by TCU before I nodded off.

I believe I actually may have tried a 3rd straight onside kick if I were TCU.

Granted, though, Tech D does suck, OK should put 35-40 on them.

That means TCU, a good offensive team, may need to score 3 TDs vs Oklahoma. Hmmmmm. Which no one has done.

We argued some more about the Okla/TT game at lunch today. I just don't see it. I mean, I understand what Tex Tech can do and the guys at lunch were pretty much saying they expect TT to hang around JUST enough to cover the 19. Plus the game is at TT AND Oklahoma really has no reason to go out and beat them to death since any win gets them in the Big 12 game. So, I see why people are on TT.

But this is the cheapest number on Oklahoma since the State game and Stoops seems to own Leach. And Tech spent a lot of emotion at Texas last week - only to lose - while Oklahoma pretty much took the second half off against Baylor. This week reminds me a lot of the Okie State game where everyone climbed up on the State bandwagon only to get whacked. And I think State is just as good as Tech is on O - without the gimmicky scheme.

We'll see. But you are definitely not the only person thinking TT has a shot here Piper.

I understand your reasoning, and agree with your basic presumptions.

Its more of a overall dislike for taking large favorites in college football, particuarly for major programs. I did do that vs Iowa State, but that is a team falling apart. Easy money.

Unless its Vandy or MSU, any SEC team down by 3 scores, I have a hard time not betting on that team. Cause the fav almost never covers. Ever. Not since Spurrier has been gone, at least. Its a conservative bunch.

In this case, I do like your reasoing. Which means I have to stay away. Kind of like your 2.5 favorite at home thing. This is mine.

Sure TT is going to score. Are they going to score every time they touch the ball like OLK? Nope. TT Def can stop no one. OLK will score when they dont even try. Not a matter of trying to not run up the score. They wont be able to help it.

I remember you saying something to me earlier in the year about large favorites.... and you know what? You were right in most of those games. There is NOTHING worse than taking a team laying in the 20's and then having that game be a lot closer. Makes me/one look dumber than a box of rocks.

In fact, I've toned it down a bit when it comes to those - although it's looking a LOT like I might make an exception or two this weekend (see N. Illinois and maybe Purdue). Most of those exceptions involve shitty teams in the MAC or WAC or some other dregs of college football. But in a real conference? You are right. Lot of those have been losers. Especially in the ACC and SEC. Can't even depend on Vandy to get wasted anymore. What is the world coming to? :)

I'm finding favorites of no more than 17 to be where the money is at for me this year. I like a shitload of teams laying between 10-15 this weekend.

    Words to live by.

Oklahoma is up 40 to 10 with 8 minutes to go in the 4th. Stoops has the backups in.

Someone falls asleep and Tech scores an easy TD.

    And now you are sweating.

That's why I hate those lines.
