I know. And I've heard that too. I just think it'd be a mistake. No one is going to win throwing the ball around in Lincoln in November. Keep running that rock.

I don't necessarily think the problem is philosophy. It's that the talent well is drying up. That and Lord can't throw a pass. Find an I-Back worth a shit.

Parity is starting to catch up to schools like Nebraska, too. Why go to Nebraska and ride the bench for 4 years then get one year of PT, when you can go to a North Texas or Central Florida and still play D1, but play four full years. The smaller schools are starting to get better and are getting more national air time.

I do think Nebraska would benefit from a change in offensive philosophy though. Nothing drastic, just someone with a more balanced approach. People have been calling for them to throw the bal more for years. Maybe the money finally started dropping in that basket as well?

The "ride the bench for 4 years" thing I agree with. It's one of the things that is flat out killing Paterno right now. Teams that refuse to play young kids that are better and reward loyalty instead are suffering,

I agree with the playing time comment. I also think if Big Red wants a change of OFFENSE, why not goto the spread option. You have a bunch of backs there and you can use that to throw the ball, speaking of that why not bring in June Jones? Okay that maybe a stretch but it's different.

Actually, Paterno has played more and more underclassmen in the last few years...out of necessity. If your refering to the QB situation, Robinson plays well if he is coming in in relief...but if he is the starter and a team has gameplanned for him as the primary QB, he could just as well change his name to Jamal Ward.
That said, Jo Pa was doing that until a few years ago...he just can't recruit because he is 72 years old.
Something can be said for seniority, but when a player is a player he should play. When your JV beats your Varsity 4 out of 5, you might want to think about moving some guys up and preparing for the fututre.

I was thinking more about the RB Johnson that sat on the bench behind chumps like McCoo when he should have been playing for two years already. You don't just wake up and gain 2000+ your senior year. That kid should have been playing.

I agree that Paterno HAS gotten better but it's still a case of too little, too late. From what I have read, one of the reasons Kevin Jones went to VT instead of PSU is because Beamer told him if he was good enough Beamer would play him ASAP. And he did.
