The Kansas OC turned down the job, saying he wanted to stay in the NFL.

Houston Nutt (Ark) turned it down for more money and an Assoc. AD position.

Peter King thinks Trev Alberts would make a good coach, which I think is about as funny as Mike Tomczak applying for the Bears job.

Mark May offers 3 candidates: Bob Davie, Dick Jauron, Bill Callahan

Alberts also said Nebraska won't hire anyone until they've met face-to-face with the Chancellor.

This is turning into a fiasco. They shoulda stuck with Solich.

Yup, he is shooting for a National Championship game before his contract ends in 2009. He got a 200,000 a year raise this year, so he gets an even million a year. We couldn't compete with what Nebraska offered him, so he must believe he can go all the way with ARK.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Spurrier. God that would suck.

I have to make a retraction, the news story I read is false... Nutt hasn't "officially" announced anything, they are all assuming... that crap pisses me off... I hope he stays personally...

    Fuck the Cornhuskers!

Peterson fucked this whole thing up...and I LOVE IT! :boune:

Fire your head coach who is holds one of the top winning percentages in Div. I football just weeks before a bowl game. Then create more uncertainty by blowing off your interim HC immediately after the bowl game.
Then he goes after an NFL OC who turns him down. A HC of a program on the rise then turns him down.
    This is comical!
    Alberts...give me a break!
Jauron...he will stay in the NFL.
Callahan...not after that implosion in Oakland. He'll be in a padded room soon.
    Davie...can't coach for 4 quarters.

Peterson should get a Darwin Award!

Your right McFly, Why would any coach want to goto a place that just fired a guy that went 9-3 and had been a part of the program for 30 years. Coach Zimmer in Dalls is the latest to turn it down deciding to stay with Parcells instead of having to put up with Peterson. Here's a name that some people may need to think about? Fisher DeBerry, The Head Coach of Air Force. Great Coach that wins 8-9 games every year is due for a shot at a big time program. Will he leave AF I don't know or how about Sonny Lubick at Colorado State, was with Miami in the Johnson era another great coach.

Jim Grobe. Dude needs to get out of Wake while he can if Nebraska would be interested. I have liked him as a candidate from the start.

I saw another name yesterday I like: Paul Johnson from Navy. I don't know if he'd even be interested in the job. It IS Nebraska though.

Both of these guys use multiple option running offenses that would be right up Nebraska's alley.

Judging from the candidates they have looked at, I think the Cornholers might be looking for a change in offensive philosophy?
