I worked todays game for my daughters high schools band and I gotta say I was woefully disappointed with the turnout from both teams. There was ONLY 41,000 fans there. You would think that both schools fans would jump at the chance not to have to drive back east but no. Disappointing. He4re's hoping that Tarheel fans will show a little more support next month in the bowl game

PP, I had to work that game for News 14, and I don't blame ANY of those fans for not wanting to come here and watch that display. ECU is miserable, and NC State was better by a bundle, yet they won't go bowling. It was ugly. Beyond ugly, but you saw it too...how bad is it when your onside kick gets run back for a TD? Sad.

One of the worst games I have ever seen. I'm still trying to figure out how State score 52 points. Also, Jay Davis is one of the worst QB I every seen(even the State fans seem to not like him).

was there really 41,000 people there or is that the tickets sold?

I'm sure a bunch of tickets ended up in the trash

I listened to parts of each teams pre-game show on the radio and heard some things about John Thompson from the ECU radio team. At one point while giving an interview to the State broadcast team the play-by-play of ECU basically said that when Thompson and his staff arrived in Greenville they had no idea how to make football work at ECU. They were very disorganized and inept at trying to build a program. The ECU coaching staff was smart and all that jazz but with this being Thompson's first HC job, he was in over his head.

Now I guess we see why Terry Holland fired him so quickly.

EDIT - Also Amato said something to the tune that there was one game that started them on a downward spiral and that game had nothing to do with the coaches or players. And things like that should never happen in D-1 football.

I wonder which game he is referring to?

You're leaving a some important facts out, but it makes for good propaganda though, huh?

Of those 41,000 fans, 30,000 were NC State fans, so don't even go there. Our side was pretty much filled up.

Also you left out the fact they closed off the section in the upper level sections at both end zones.

Another thing, ECU fans started leaving 5 mins into the 3rd quarter.

I will be posting pictures later...

Defense because we all know their offense isn't worth a crap.

You've either not seen many QB's, or your standard for QB's is very high. The reasons State fans hate Jay Davis are plentiful:

    1. He's not Philip Rivers.
    2. State fans are dumbasses when it comes to football
    3. See #1
    4. See #2

We had a good time. It was cold and damp but OK. There was a guy in a skybox above us calling for Marcus Stone the whole game. I would've given my youngest child for a chance to take him out in the parking lot and beat the shit out of him.

I went with my parents to the game. They are huge NC State fans and although it may not have been worth the 600 mile round trip drive, everyone had a great time. Attendance was sparse as I started out in section 517 and moved down to section 125 after halftime. NCSU's athletes were far and away better than anything ECU had on the field.
