    How embarassing would it be for Marshall to turn them down to stay at Winthrop making 1/4 of what NC-State offers?

    Honestly? Not very.

    He's got a pretty nice gig in Rock Hill. And he only makes a quarter of what State was willing to pay for a name, but they wouldn't pay him that same amount. He might double his salary, but he won't quadruple it. And that of course assumes that Winthrop doesn't step up to give him a raise.

    Honestly, probably the biggest thing (other than the money) that State can sell is that he is not going to be under pressure to have to win his league tourney every year to make the dance.

    I'm kinda torn on this one because I like Marshall and Winthrop (wife went there) and I'd really like to see what Marshall could do on a big stage, but I mean come on. It's Moo U.

    How much is Marshall making at Winthrop? I have no idea, but I would guess somewhere around $200-300k.

    That's what I think too. But State isn't going to pay him 1.2 mil.

    I would guess that State would have to offer Marshall at least three times what he makes at Winthrop to get him to seriously consider it. He really is happy where he is.

    I've read where he might be waiting for the Gamecocks to call when Odom calls it quits.

    all of the anti-Odom people(which is about 50/50) wanted to run him out of town this year, and hire Marshall. Odom reminds me of where Herb was 5 yrs ago when everyone wanted him gone. would have been easy to fire him, but then he goes to NCAA 5yrs in a row.

    That's been the crux of why State fans are split. The one's that are afraid they'll be worse are accused of being pro-mediocrity, while the one's that want change are unrealistic about - well - everything.
