If memory serves, the penalties for transgressions at UNC used to be much more severe than University policy. Don't know if they still are.

And if this had been McCants, metro would be over here screaming about how slack UNC was and what a bunch of thugs we recruited, etc, etc, ad naueum.....

Most transgressions in Chapel Hill have been worse offenses than drinking. The UNCC policy begins with 1 game, the athletic director and/or coach may make larger penalties. In other words, the coach doesn't have any authority to shorten a suspension if he wasn't the one that gave the suspension out.

UNC - slack, thugs? vp, I can't imagine you saying those words in the same snetence, even if you were making up a quote. :D

I haven't heard the details, but didn't he do much more than drinking? Driving under the influence, hit and run ....

Shit, how many of us WEREN'T guilty of underage drinking in college? Most of us weren't stupid enough to get a car afterwards, though.

I meant links to back up this statement.

Look, I am not saying that UNC has only recruited angels - I personally would have liked to shoot Makhtar Ndyie - but I really can't remember any Heels getting in serious trouble with the law - while they were in college.
