This has nothing to do with certifying people or whatever you want to do.

If you think it sucks for those guys to make that much money, then shut the fuck up, learn to shoot and dribble and declare for the draft so you can get it yourself.

What about all the Korleone Youngs who declared and didnt even get drafted?

You also missed a bunch of busts. Just off the top of my head: Ousmanne Cisse (not sure he even got drafted), that big Lang kid that committed to Louisville before making McD's and declaring, Kendrick Perkins, etc. I know I could find more if I tried.

Yeah - that's what I was thinking too. But of all the really good players that went on to be a success they were batting almost .1000

I look at it like this 'cos I've faced this argument before.
These guys get paid this amount of money because of the basic rule of supply and demand.
From a baseball point of view back when I was playing, the statistics show this:

Even if you were fortunate enough to make it to the minor leagues (1) out of every (100) minor league players see (1) day in the major leagues.

There are only 700 or so major league baseball player jobs in the world.
The job is in Demand. Can you imagine what it would be like if there were only 700 doctors in the world?

    The NBA has less jobs....

If they're good enough to make it into the NBA they'll be there at 20 instead of at 18. 2 years or less in the NBDL or at college isn't going to stop those kids, and some of them that would have washed out in a few years in the NBA will have a better chance at holding a long term career because they are able to polish their skills before getting there.

Looks like you missed the point.

I don't give a shit how much they make....if they earn it....but the NBA and the fan are getting screwed by frauds....want to be's....guys that jump like Mike....shoot like Mike....smile like Mike....but play like a kid that has NO training in the game....the game has gone to HELL....I can hardly sit through an NBA game any longer....I've tried 4 times this year and they have been terrible.....

Why pay these UNPROVEN guys loads of money and then watch them flop....

It doesn't help that the league is watered down with 30 + teams either, but the quality sucks....we are getting waxed by international teams....why....because everyone wants to be like Mike and they miss the point....Mike went to UNC and learned and played with the best....you have to learn to win at different levels.....todays player doesn't know how to win in a team game....it's obvious....look at international basketball.

sooner than later the sport will become Hockey....no one will watch it.

oh yeah....you shut the fuck up bitch!

that's great, for catastrophic injuries -- if you can afford the policy, anyways. but what about somebody that messes up their knee, but can still play. they go from the next lebron james to the next caron butler. still a good payday, but well short of what they could have made without undue interference.

No. I got your point. I just don't think that your inability to watch an NBA game in its entirety combined with a loss by our C-teamers in the last Olympics is reason enough to want to save the NBA owners from their own stupidity. The owners want to insulate themselves from fucking up and choosing a bust like good ol' Kwame here in DC. The veteran players don't want a kid taking their job. Fuck 'em both. You don't want Kwame? Don't take the risk. You might get a Stoudamire.

There is one thing I think that would really help the situation.....

Ditch the guaranteed contracts. If the NBA doesn't want to go straight to the NFL-you-are-on-the-street-on Monday model, then find a way to split the difference. There's a bunch of dead league money floating around out there on guys that aren't playing.

I'll bet Rod Strickland is still getting paid.
