I don't get the Elden Campbell for Anderson trade. Both contracts expire at the end of the season. Robert Pack puts up the same numbers as Kenny Anderson. Is Baron thru?

magliore is ready to take over and costs less, i think. baron has been hurt so much that the hornets need a backup guard.

Elden was out with a bad knee (had surgery in october, I think) and has been slow to get back into shape. He's been playing, but as a backup. Magliore had definitely taken the starting spot.

But now they're stuck with Tactor Traylor as backup center. Traylor is like 6'9" at best. Magliore is foul prone. They need a real backup center.

Statistically, Anderson is a minor upgrade over Pack (who was signed to two 10 days and finally for the rest of the season).

Seems like a bad move to me.

Because 6'3" shooting guards don't fair well in the NBA

Whatever the reason Kenny Anderson for Elden Campbell is a freak'n steal for the Sonics.

Sonics get (in all) Elden Campbell, Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie and a first rounder

They gave up Payton (who is 34) and who is a FA after this season. Giving up Desmond Mason was (I'm sure) hard to swallow because he is a good one and getting better. Kenny Anderson is throw away basically.

Short term - the Bucks are much better - but 5 yrs down the road, Sonics made out like gang busters IMO.

The Elden Campbell in New Orleans is a mere shell of the guy you knew in CLT. He is finished. The Hornets needed a PG in the worst way. For some reason, they lost faith in Pack. I thought he did an OK job, but he is not a starter. KA is starting material, at least for the remainder of the year. Who knows if Baron's back will cooperate when he returns? The smart thing to do is proceed as though Baron won't be back. If he comes back and contributes, thats a bonus and now we have a legit option to rest him with.

Elden's contribution was minimal at best and the lack of a true PG was killing Mash and DW. Great trade IMO. Something for nothing is always a good deal. I know it's hard to believe, but Elden just isn't the same guy. He was getting outplayed by Traylor. Moiso has earned playing time as well. Magloire will be a stud if he can develop a little jumper from about 12 feet in. Since KA is in the same situation as Elden, contract wise, it makes all the sense in the world to bring in a player who can at least contribute for the rest of the season in an area of need than sit on a 7 footer who can't play just because you like saying it's good to have 7 footers. Elden is done!
