Bad move IMHO   . . . Casual hoops fans are now going to have to scramble to see which channel TNT is on vs. just tuning into their local ABC station. Plus, everybody still doesn't have cable . . . Why did the NBA agree to put its all-star event on cable   ? ? ? Bad trade off iMHO just to get a few extra bucks from ABC & TBS . . .

The NBA is hurting dude. Many arenas/teams around the country are reporting huge losses due to low turnout. One thing that personally turns me off is that they are letting high school kids enter the league now. It was bad enough when college sophs and freshmen were leaving early for the NBA. I'm not gonna get into the "right or wrong" issue, I just think it is an inferior product these days. Now give me players, true vets like MJ, Dr. J, Larry Bird, Magic, Issiah Thomas, etc. and veteran teams like the Pistons, Celtics, Lakers, Bulls and Sixers of a few years ago and I'll watch. These players were MEN and they conducted themselves as such and earned my respect. The NBA is grasping at ANY revenew that they can get their hands on right now, just show them the money.

The NBA is hurting, at times bad product, a bunch of spoiled brats and now limiting it to a cable audience will drive other fans away. Is the finals on tape-delay in the near future? Of course the all-star game is a pile of crap anyway with no defense and no reason to watch anyway, so I guess what's the difference?

The problem is that the most fundamental team in the NBA has two guys that are way over the hill, Stockton to Malone. You know what's coming and still can't stop it. Of the current group, Sacramento is the closest to the basketball offensively. I love Tim Duncan's game very much.

Why did the NBA agree to put its all-star event on cable

1-Because they had no choice. the networks knew that Everybody Loves Raymond re-runs would kick their butts.
2- They didn't have enough money to get on prime-time
3-- And this is my favorite--nobody gives a crap about the NBA anymore.:)
