That was a pretty remarkable dunk contest. There were no bad dunks, even from the guys who didn't make the finals - Rudy Gay's were fairly pedestrian, but Jermario Moon's first one was really, really good.

I actually though Howard's 3rd drunk, the toss/tap/dunk, was the best one

Our "hip-hop, gotta look cool" culture that we live in today has ruined stuff like the Dunk Contest which back in the day was fun to watch (I always liked the 3-point contest better anyway). Last night was the first time I've watched All-Star Saturday Night in maybe five or six years and now I know that I haven't been missing much. I thought the Superman dunk was seriously overrated. He didn't even get close to the rim. The 3rd slam by Howard was his best. I was impressed with the slam by Green where he blew out the candle on the brace of the rim just because of the fact that he got that far above the rim.

Did anybody watch the shooting competition that San Antonio won? David Robinson has packed on the meat and he couldn't bank that jumper if his life depended on it.

are we really complaining that someone's ruined the sanctity of an exhibition that was designed for showing off?

He also shot the half court shot straight up and swished it

I think that was the point, actually. He jumped as high as he could and threw the ball through the rim.

The dunk contest was the best one I've seen since the Vince Carter one. Badass and very inventive all around. I agree with Dr J that Green's shoeless dunk was underrated.
