primarily because the larger schools can recuit based on name recognition, where as the smaller schools are still trying to establish that name... to do so they need a few more winning years in which they make some noise in the NCAA tourny. They string enough of those together and add a possible championship they are no longer in that "small school" listing.

Big schools, and Duke was one that came to mind from a few years ago, get their chances at that player once a year, maybe more. They feel the effects, but they can reload with another Rodney White, Charlotte gets one every 5 years. So from a program that's not perennially top 15, keeping a player like that naturally means they're going to be more successful. Getting that player once every five years and keeping him for 3 certainly means building upon something more than if said player is there for one.

I do think this benefits those schools, not to mention there'd be more guys looking for a unique opportunity to play for 3 years rather than sit and wait for another huge recruit to grad.

Are the transfer rules for basketball the same as football (sit out a year to transfer)? If so, do you count that year?

Yes they are the same unless you're transferring from a JC.

And if its 2 years from your graduating class it I'd assume legally it has to count. Sorta like Larry Fitzgerald in last years NFL draft. I'm also gonna say that you'll see some players go to prep school and then 1 year of college and then on to the NBA. That's 2 years outta your HS class.

Making kids go to school when they really don't want to in the first place. I see big time NCAA sanctions down the road.

david stern has created this monster. it has watered down both the nba and the ncaa game. too many franchises, not enough talent.....forget going to school kids, just sign here. defense? passing? teamwork? leadership? free throws? shooting? mental toughness?....nobody cares about that stuff as long as you can give us a HYPE Center slam fest, right? the nba...lol
