one of the top teams of the last 10 years is the spurs. they are a small market team. chicago couldn't land a solid free agent till a recently. it's not big markets, that attracts free agents, it's nice weather and hip nightlife. tax laws don't hurt either.

the best players do get some preferential treatment, but i think that's mostly due to them being better than most of the other players out there and being perceived as being capable of feats that others are not. basically, it's all about reputation. if you are known as a good defender, you'll get more charges called on guys you're defending. if you are a known hack, you're gonna get called more on reach ins. if refs only called the things they actually saw 100%, there'd be like one tenth the number of whistles and probably five times the number of fights.

as for the lottery, it used to be held as a simple drawing of cards from a big ball, but even then people accused them of cheating. plus that way is hard to adjust for record. there's no real way to televise the current system since they draw only the top 3 slots and then let record determine the remaining slots. the whole build-up to who won would be shot and you'd know right away with the first drawing...

i'm pretty satisfied that the lottery isn't fixed.

Three stars give up the world tour

Currently, both sides are beginning to talk about 82 games to keep the full possibilities. The star is planning a world tour, but complications, originally in the book of James, Anthony and Paul decided to give up.

Although the first two weeks of November, the game was canceled, but the NBA regular season is still to maintain a 82. Fisher and Bilihengte are expressed this hope. On this issue, Stern and employees have no objection. He said the Alliance intends to let the players play as many games. "Ability to maintain 82 regular season games, more must be finalized depends on many things we now think there may soon get it all." Stern said.

Stern insists the league never want to miss some games. "Loss two weeks have been very annoyed us, we have been trying to" stop the bleeding ", and make unremitting efforts. This has always been our goal." Stern said.

Negotiations did not result, including Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Wade appeared, including several players expected to start the tour on Sunday. However, James, Anthony and Paul have decided to quit, they said it would use this time to his family.

Who blinks first? Owners or players? Doesn't matter to me, one way or another.

I'll just keep celebrating Dallas beating Miami for another year.

The players are being idiots. Regardless of who is "right," they should have taken a deal already.

The NBA players are both arrogant and stupid. They don't seem to realize that they don't have anywhere near the leverage that the NFL players did.

Exactly, huge difference between a league (NFL) that's making money vs. a league (NBA) that's not.

Unless I am missing something, but the players want a certain percent of revenue generated but want the owners to incur all of the expenses?

yeah, it seems kind of odd to talk about how much you love the game of basketball and then complain that somebody is only paying you a few million per year...

i'm sure it's grueling and all, but ffs, it beats doing pretty much any other job out there. do the owners make money? yeah, but they have a boatload of money invested and they can easily lose money if things go south. when was the last time a player lost money playing basketball? (antoine walker doesn't count)

honestly, i've been kinda hoping the season would be cancelled. i could use a break from the nba and i think the league has been taken over by star players to a large degree. lebron james' move to miami was horrible for the league, imo.

The players need to go ahead and take the deal for reasons previously mentioned by everyone here. Obviously, NBA players are going to make millions and have less risk of injury compared to the NFL.

I am a Bobcat fan. Therefore, I am for any changes that would make them more competitive, but I really do miss watching NBA during the week. It is basketball at its highest level and it's impressive to watch. Especially considering the NBA was coming off of one of its most successful seasons in years.
