    The sappy little ferret. Ahhh.

Favorite line of the night was "I don't give a shit about that. I'm a Buddhist." from Nate's roommate.

    heh... chuck was a hoot.

    slightly off topic...

when keith and david were looking to adopt, i was kinda confused by their choice in child. namely, the kid couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. i told my wife that he wasn't going to be adopted because his acting wasn't up to snuff to join the cast full-time. but his brother is a much better actor and then i realized it was really the older brother that was the important one. the younger kid is really just an excuse to get the older kid onto the show. the little kid's part is barely more than maya's -- and his acting still sucks.

I'm still trying to figure out how we were meant to regard Nate's death. It seems like every time his father is in one of his dream/unconscious sequences, he points out all of Nate's shortcomings to him and sort of taunts him into trying to die or something (like when he found out his first wife was dead and got all drunk, then fought and drove and his dad "sat" in the car next to him and kept prodding him), which would make his passing seem kind of negative. But Nate seemed to get more and more peaceful and accepting after his first wife died, even when he broke up with Brenda it was like he was just accepting who he was and that he wasn't suited for her. Of course, the question remained as to whether Nate was capable of really emotionally giving himself to anyone, but he seemed to be getting more and more ok with himself and his limitations.

And Maya REALLY annoys me. All that kid does is exactly what she's told to do, and she's completely emotionless.

i think his dad has normally been pretty pleasent in his "dreams". aside from that one time in the car. i think they're more a reflection of what the person halucinating wants to hear or believe. nate was being self destructive and his visions were people telling him why he should die but also that he was too chicken to really do it.

this is the last season, so i suspect they wanted to kill one of the main characters. and really, the whole series can be viewed as nate's return home (first episode he flies in from ... portland or something). i dunno how many more episodes there are -- 3 or 4 maybe? not really enough for any major changes to any other character. altho them fishers are weird....
