yeah, the puzzle ends with a reference to cthulhu but the site references the tv show "the class" so i dunno that it's too important. the movie is an "action/adventure" according to apple's trailer (which may be inaccurate). cthulhu would have to have some horror element.

wouldn't be surprised if you don't actually ever find out what it is, just that it's something big and scary. it would explain the relatively small budget for the film and keep with the "as observed by a small group of people" thing. you think they're gonna hire a helicopter to fly around and get aerials?

if it's $30 million, they could film it all handheld first-person -- like blair witch. that's no-name actors and not-expensive equipment or locations. they could spend $20+ million on CGI.

you seen the HD trailer on apple.com?

maybe. but i certainly wouldn't expect to get any good views of whatever it is considering the hand-held feel. if giant monster attacks the city, you don't charter a helicopter to check it out, you run and hide. maybe some shots of it on tv, maybe glimpses of it passing by open windows or alleyways. they've got their hands full with destroying a city, in terms of budget i would think.

yeah saw it. it looks pretty good.

Apparently the Ethan Haas thing has nothing to do with this movie. Abrams has said its only associated with http://1-18-08.com
