SWEET !!!! Started in February a modified South Beach/Adkins. As of July 1 when I woke up this afternoon (working nights) I am down 42 lbs. I am officially in th 190's again. 8.5 more pounds until I get down to my high school graduation weight. :ylsuper: I plateaued out at 35 lbs and stayed there for 2 weeks. I introduced some more fruit to try to jump start things, NOTHING. Then I ate a butterfinger brownie. Must have jump started things because other than the usual eating, I have dropped 7 lbs in the last 2.5 weeks. I am guessing it is being outside and sweating my ass off. either way I am getting close to my goal weight which is great. Now next week when I get those weights from William I can tone up the muscles

It's weird, I have done this diet twice and it works pretty well. I put back on half the weight I lost the first time in 2 years (15 of 30) and had gotten down to 219 from my highest ever 250 lbs or as I referred to it 1/8th of a ton. I looked at some past pictures from last summer (cruise pictures) and I was a fucking blimp. I had to do something but couldn't see eating nothing but meat so I mixed it up a little and ate chicken and salads, 2 of my favorite things anyway and also added in some leafy greens (cabbage, spinach, collards ..) and within the last 6 weeks or so good carbs like fruit. The weight fell off but instead of plateauing again around 30 I slowed but kept losing. Maybe 2 lbs a week for the last month. My blood pressure which hadn't been a problem had crept up to around 140/94ish so I knew it was time to lose weight. Now my blood pressure averages 124/80, pulse is back in the 66-72 range (always is low). I have been on cholesterol meds for 20 years as I have family history against me. had been as high as 280 in the mid 1980's now I get it checked every 6 months and it ranges between 157-170. Really helps having my wife being on the diet as she needed to shed some weight as well. So between the both of us we have dropped over 110 lbs. I can't do anything about family history (heart disease runs ramp-id) but I can do what I can. Never smoked and now have weight in a better area. My goal is to get down to 190, my high school graduating weight and use 200 as my time to lose some weight point. I was wearing snug 38 jeans or 40 khaki's now 36 jeans are loose out of the dryer as are 38 dress pants. That and it's nice to have to put additional holes in a belt when the pants are falling off. :satana:

Good job PP! What's your take on Atkins v. South Beach? How are they similar/different? I haven't researched either one very much. Like you, I'd like to get back to about 190, and since I've passed 30 yrs. old I can't seem to break that 200 lbs boundry. Thanks!
