North Carolina coach Matt Doherty had a conversation last year in a California airport with a young man considering a career move. While the young man wasn't necessarily seeking Doherty's advice, Doherty preached patience.

"When you're 50 or 60 years old you can have all the money in the bank, but you can't buy back that year," Doherty said Tuesday, paraphrasing what he told the young man.

Doherty doesn't know if his advice helped sway Jason Williams to return to Duke for his junior season.

"For Jason, for Duke, for college basketball, it's been a great thing," Doherty said of Williams' return this season. "For the teams that have to play him, it's been tough."

I'm not so sure anymore Ej. A lot of pro teams are getting wary of hyped up school kids. Tell me the last guy that returned for his junior and/or senior year and hurt himself in a MAJOR way. The only one I can think of is T. Morris here at MD. He did blow it. Usually it only helps a kid - unless that kid has 18 siblings, cousins, and other members of his shoe entourage to feed. :)

As far as Williams goes, he's not going to go any lower in this year's draft than he would have last year.
