and may close the door on Millwood :( Trade for Eric Milton:
    PHILLIES ACQUIRE ERIC MILTON

The Phillies acquired left-handed pitcher Eric Milton from
the Minnesota Twins for right-handed pitcher Carlos Silva,
infielder Nick Punto and a player to be named later in a
deal announced Wednesday night. The 28-year-old Milton made
his debut with the Twins in 1998, and won 57 games, with
win totals of 13-15-13 from 2000-2002. He missed most of
last season after undergoing surgery to repair torn
cartilage in his left knee on March 12. He started three
games in September for the Twins, winning one and posting
    a 2.65 ERA in 17.0 innings

Milton enters the last year of a contract that pays him 9 million a year. Makes you wonder if the Phillies are still interested in signing Millwood

Eric Milton is a good left handed pitcher that should help the Phillies.I wish the Yankees would not give up on kids like Milton so quick. They should have never let him go in the first place.

Good luck to the Phillies next season. They will have their work cut out for them battling the Braves and Marlins.

After Jim Thome, Billy Wagner, and Eric Milton, I don't think they have any more coin for a major deal. Millwood will not be a Phillie next year. He should be a Brave, Scott Boras gets in the way there.

After last year I will shed no tears if Millwood goes back to Atlanta. He was traded to be the Phillies staff ace and by seasons end he was at best the #3 guy behind Wolf and Padilla

The only reason you got Millwood, for basically peanuts, was the horrible decision to keep Maddux after letting Glavine walk. The decks are cleared for him to return, but Millwood won't get much more than he left Atlanta with, and for only 3 years.

    Millwood offered arbitration

So now if Millwood goes elsewhere the Phillies get a draft pick. Otherwise the Phillies are loaded on the hill. Now if they could find their bats again

I think the Braves are stupid as hell for not offering Maddux arbitration... even if they didn't expect to resign him all they had to do is low ball him and they'd get a pick for him

Arbitration for Maddux would have them paying 15+ million. Thats what they did last year and cost the Braves plenty. He aint a 15 million pitcher anymore and what with the uncertanty with draft picks making the bigs why take a risk in someone not signing him or hoping a pick pans out. Sign him back at a cheaper rate if they want him. My guess is he headed for St Louis or Cubs
