is screwed. I'm thinking about getting an MRI. Last year I fucked up my knee so bad I couldn't walk straight for 2 weeks...meaning no pressure on it, if I did it hurt like hell. Now it just pops every now and then when I move it laterally. I can't even run more than two miles without some kind of pain. I hope it's nothing too serious. I was at the Y today and trying to do leg extentions and couldn't apply 30 pounds of pressure. :( Maybe it's just a sprain or maybe chondromalacia but I highly doubt that. The worse thing I could do is tore some cartiledge but hopefully not any ligaments.

    You need to stop....

Man, you need stop running until you see a doctor. I ran for over 20 years and had to give it up. Nothing replaces that feeling, except maybe long distance swimming, but that pounding will destroy knee joints. That knee joint has to last you the rest of your life.

Sounds like you need to give it full rest - not just for a few days - but weeks. Strap it up - and keep it rested. My family were all at one time long distance runners (genetically, I think I missed the boat on that one - but what can you do?), anyway - they've all got stuffed knees one way or another. Savio, I know you love it - but stop while you can still walk without constant agony. :(

Hoo-rah! boys, I did the same about 6yrs ago and the family Dr. said it was a sprain. It "popped" out a few weeks later and the ER Dr. said it was a sprain. Last year I decide to go see an Othorpaedic Dr after my knee had gotten to the point where almost any normal activity could make it "pop" out of joint. Lo and behold I had a torn ACL.

Savio, the leg extensions tells me that you most likely have a torn ACL also. There a number of tests you can do with the help of someone but I wouldn't attempt them. If not done correctly you could be in some serious pain. Go see a Orthopaedic Dr and he'll be able to tell you with about 1-2 different excersizes.

pantherking I know how you feel about no insurance, that's why I never went to have mine checked. If it were to pop out again and you go to the ER they are going to X-ray it and say it's a sprain..... trust me on that. No ER Dr. is going to run an MRI on you, at least they never did mine and that's to different visits. An MRI runs anywhere from 1,000 to 1500 dollars. If insurance is in your future I'd wait until I got some, if not then bite the bullet and make a visit to an Ortho Dr and be ready to make a shitload of payments.

    ACL surgery 3500-4k
    Use of the hospital 2500
    anesthesiologist 1500

And there alot of "other" costs that go into it... all in I think it was about 10k maybe a little more.

Best part is every penny you pay out is tax deductible, bad thing is having to pay that money out.

I went to Orthopaedics East in Greenville,NC and them people know their shit. Just a recommendation.....:)

I hope it's not serious. I'm going to rest it for a while then re-evaluate.

Mail - It cost you that much with Insurance? I'm with Aetna and they're pretty good.

Savio- sounds like a lateral mensicus tear to me, but the fact that you can still lift up to 30 lbs and run some tells me it can't be too bad. I will do your MRI, but I swear, if you ask me if you can breath I will smother you with a pillow.;)

No that's all in, I think I paid out about $1500. I was letting pantherking know how much it may run.

    Also,

I really do need some new running shoes also. These air max are worn out. Maybe that will help....
