For that matter, there's also Robert Walter's 20th Congress. Both Karl Denson and Robert Walters were the progenitors of the original and great Greyboy Allstars. Man, there's a million bands in this vein, and I love 'em all:
    Freelance Bishops
    Afroskull
    Soulive
    Topaz
    Charlie Hunter
    The Slip
    Disco Biscuits
    Sound Tribe Sector 9
    Particle
    Garaj Mahal
    Umphrey's McGee
    Vinyl
    Will Bernard and Motherbug
    Zony Mash
    Porterhouse
    Brotherhood of Groove
    Papa Grows Funk
    New Orleans Juice
and last but not least (in a slightly different vein), Robert Randolph and the Family Band

yep. And Japancakes is, well, I dunno. It's just catchy. Kinda odd elecctronic band. Heavy on ssteel guitar. Kinda like another thing I'm sorta into now, Gotan Project, which is heavy on accordion.

oops, forgot. you posting from wales! i was there. love your lush country! i went to glastonbury, mahencleth (sp)? brecon and stratford upon avon. i forgot the other places. i was there to see where shakespeare once lived. took the tour on stratford, and went to westminster abbey to see where the poets are buried/memorialized. well, i know some are not actually buried there cuz i read d.h. lawrence's name on there and he is buried in taos, new mexico. :D

anyhoo...it's probably evening there now...so good evening!

mVm: thanks. kazaa is slow. i struggle so much with kazaa. i got lots to download but it takes days. very frustrating. gotan project? i heard of them!

i was thinking japancakes is much like hiroshima, with those weird string insturments and drums? maybe not. hiroshima kicks.

    ... and Hanoi Rocks!

I lived for a while not far from Brecon. Wonderful country - I met my wife there! The Brecon Jazz Festival took place last week. I didn't go, but I'm sure mVm would have loved it.
