Here's an article on Thornton. Sounds like a classy individual. I call out mailman because he's familar with him and how he's had to work for everything.

This time last year, Thornton was a guy struggling to provide for his family while going to school (a former walkon, he just got a scholarship) and somehow squeezing some time in as a backup linebacker for the Tarheels. Now he's a proffessional football player for the Indianapolis Colts.

How hard work can pay off

you know the Colts had to have some of the worst value in this draft. So why do I think that what they got fits so damn well?

Piper remember me telling you I met him at a restaurant?

Well it was at Andy's the same that is mentioned in that article. He always ate there when he came home. He left for college at 175lbs and when I met him he was up to 235. He really is a good kid.

Side note on Andy's it was started here by a local guy and last I knew it was up to 50 stores and 35 more planned for this year. If you live in the flatlands as ya'll call it you may have seen one. Windy used to manage one and had friend that owned 2 before running over an off-duty cop while drunk.

And Goldsboro isn't as small as they say or as horrible:)

I saw him in the SRC at school a week or so after the draft. Called to him and told him congrats on being drafted. He looked really shocked that I even knew who he was, much less when he was drafted, and to what team.

I asked him when his first minicamp was and he said he was flying up to Indy tomorrow. He said he was just going to go up there, have fun, and do the best he could. And yeah, sack Peyton for me. He chuckled.

It was like talking to one of my peers. He laughed and joked. It was pretty good stuff. Genuinely good guy. All the best of luck to him.
