If you could re-make any movie with today's technology (CGI, THX, and the rest) which would you want to do over? War of the Worlds would probably be a good one to start with.

if you consider film to be art, then how do you justify a remake? have to give credit here to gus van sant...at least he didn't try to out-hitchcock hitchcock when he "re-made" psycho.

in general, i hate remakes. what could possibly be done to dr. strangelove or clockwork orange? fill it with loads of pointless effects that are just not necessary?
even metropolis, despite being a silent movie, would gain nothing from a cgi spruce up. the story is complete so...what is there to do? make the robot look cooler ? so what?

Oh sure it would it would of course be a different piece of art not really a remake. Acting styles are different Actually remaking the whole thing as a digital animation with realistic characters would of course be the ultimate irony. Remaking that story from the point of view of a society a the junction of social change much like that of the time in which the original was made but using today's thought would in itself be interesting.
