It's a road bike. 2003 model. I can get it for $500, which is a pretty good price. I still can't believe how much bikes costs now, but this is suppose to be a good price for the bike.

$500.00 is a rediculously low price for a bike. if you get into riding you will want a serious upgrade. $1700.00 gets you on a bike that weighs conciderably less and has much better componentry. better componentry equals a smoother ride a smoother rides makes for a much more enjoyable ride.

do yourself a favor from the beginning. get clippless peddles and shoes. it will be worth the extra $$. try ebay for these. the basket peddles won't cut it. you cannot activate your hamstrings, or develope a smooth spin unless you go clipless

I ride at Beatty occasionally. It's pretty tame compared to Catawba and Renaissance. I have a K2 4000 dual suspension bike with XT and XTR components, a WTB wheelset, and other assorted goodies. It's been so muddy recently, it's not much fun to ride. Hoping for a drought.

Thanks for the info WilliamJ. I found out that 5-6 hundered bucks was very cheap for a bike when I started looking. I had no idea they cost so much. I've been wanting to ride but just recently started riding with a group, so I decided to get my own bike. Then I found out how much they were, but I had my friends look at it and they all thought it had good components for the $$ so I bought it today. I just can't afford more than that. I really couldn't afford that much. We're going out tomorrow morning, so I get to take it out. It should be fun as long as the weather cooperates and it doesn't downpour in the morning.

William doesn't know shit - you don't need to spend $1700 on a bike to ride...$500 can get you going really nicely. It's not like you're trying to be a competitive racer...just make sure you've got good brakes and a seat, and you'll have fun.

    WORD UP!

Anybody want to meet out at Francis Beatty Park about 10am Monday morning? I'm still a bit out of shape, but I'll try to keep up.
