For all their rock critic praise, REM doesn't realy deliver the goods. Very predictable and listless.

Don't hate them, but compared to their hype, not all that.

Springsting I never cared for either, but I can see the appeal. I don't neccessarily equate overrated with sucks, you can still be good and be overrated. That's why I mentioned the Stones. I do like a lot of their songs, but for being mentioned in the top 5 constantly, they've put out a lot of crap in their latter part of their career.

Tht may be a tad unfair. Penalizing them for not dying young.

I do like Bob Segar, actually. And Hendrix was the first real electronic improvisational composer. He was a good blues singer, but he was an exceptional guitarist. Knew how to structure tension and release in a performance.

unfortunately, i said U2 for the same reason you say REM.

for about a 10-year stretch, REM was tops. i hated that they got popular.

i hate it when anything i like gets popular.

    Disagree with most.

Winger? Sure, they were cheesy hair metal. BUT, the singer played in Alice Cooper, is an accomplished session musician, and is now a pretty damn acoustic guy...I would say they were one of the MOST talented 80's bands.

Limp Bizkit? Yeah...they are basically shit.

Queen? WTF? Ever listened to A Night at the Opera? Those guys deserved all the attention they got. If anything they were UNDER rated.

    Springsteen? Agreed.

Bon Jovi? Consistent songwriting duo. For almost 20 years.

Zeppelin? While a lot of their stuff is mediocre...I'd have to say that they were extremely influential on the today's musicians.

I still think Hendrix is horrible.

I never understood the fascination with U2. I don't hear anything but awful guitar. I HATE that sound. High pitched strumming. Chinga chinga chinga chinga...

I'm sorry man, I could never get into them. Now If a song by Queen or the Who come on the radio I won't purposely change the station, Their songs are tolerable, but I HATE The Doors and Limp Bizkit.

How some people confuse a drunken stupor with genius , I'll never know.
