What guitarist do you think has a very distinctive sound? I was listenning to the radio last night on the way home and heard a new song and immediately knew it was Carlos Santana with Chad Kroger singing. Others whos sound is unmistakenly theirs are Clapton, and Eddie Van Halen

Don't know if these are universally distinctive, but I know James Taylor, Stephen Stills, and Joe Satriani when I hear them.

Dimebag and Kerry are NOT legends. If Dimebag hadn't of died, he'd be relegated to an average player on a has been band. King? Nope. Any guitarist worth his salt knows King is average at best.

Mustaine? Yes. Very distinctive sound and he can play. Yngwie Malmsteen may be the most recognizable in the metal genre. George Lynch of Dokken also has a very distinctive style.

While not technically great...Angus Young has a very identifiable sound.
