You're a pretty reasonable guy, so if you happen to have a tape on you, I suggest you take another look. Morgan didn't stand out in the Philadelphia game. As I noted, almost all of his tackles were significantly downfield, several of which were a matter of him giving up completions. I will say that he did better in the Super Bowl, but it still wasn't anything close to a game-changing performance.

I haven't watched every Washington game or even close to it, but I do know that he single-handedly beat us on October 21, 2001.

Again, I don't know every Urlacher game, but I can think of at least one just from last season on December 5th against Minnesota, which was his first game back from his injury. He pretty much single-handedly dominated the Vikings' offense, although he did get help from Jerry Azumah.

I have to admit I was shocked this deal got done. I had him going to the Dolphins hands down due to his connections with the team. For those who did not know his dad still lives in Miami and was in charge of security for Dan Marino for years. Zach Thomas is a close family friend and with all of that, PLUS hiring Rosenhaus, I had him already off to Miami. I have to admit I am happy he is here because if he can avoid the freak injuries he has had, he could be a dominate player.

I agree. Nothing stood out on his end.

I think that the stats about his tackles could be a bit skewed, unless they suggest that all of those plays were directly at Morgan, and that he did in fact give ground.

Since your original question to another poster was to name a stand out moment in Dan's career, I mentioned the Eagles game. I'll always remember that sealing INT.

We did have that game won, until a dumb-assed play call. But LaVar was in the right place, so I gotta give it up.

The Super Bowl is the easiest answer. 25 tackles, a Super Bowl record. When was the last time a player had 25 tackles in one game much less the Super Bowl?

Actually it isn't. Panthers officials claimed that he had 25 tackles, but the NFL only had him down for 18. Super Bowl records go by what the NFL puts down, and they obviously don't even have him as the leading tackler from that game alone.

:lmao:True enough. Here's the actual link, where you'll undoubtedly note that Morgan's tackles total is a far more impressive 18. Stupid mistake on my part.

Do we agree that 18 in the biggest game of the year is still amazing? How many players have 18 tackles in a regular game much less the big one?

I wouldn't call it amazing, mostly because about seven of those tackles came from Morgan giving up a pass in coverage. But sure, he played well in that game.

Here are the relevant plays, for anyone who is interested:

    2-5-CAR26 (12:04) T.Brady pass to T.Brown to CAR 14 for 12 yards (D.Morgan). (6 yards after catch.)

    3-8-NE40 (8:17) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass to D.Branch to NE 45 for 5 yards (D.Morgan, D.Wesley). (3 yards after catch.)

    3-2-NE33 (11:52) T.Brady pass to T.Brown pushed ob at NE 36 for 3 yards (D.Morgan).

    2-4-NE44 (10:55) K.Faulk left end to CAR 47 for 9 yards (M.Minter, D.Morgan).

4-1-CAR38 (9:04) A.Smith right guard to CAR 37 for 1 yard (W.Witherspoon, D.Morgan). Play Challenged by CAR and Upheld. (Timeout #1 by CAR.)

    1-10-CAR37 (8:52) T.Brady pass to D.Graham to CAR 34 for 3 yards (D.Morgan).

    2-2-CAR29 (7:50) A.Smith left tackle to CAR 20 for 9 yards (W.Witherspoon, D.Morgan).

    2-10-CAR20 (6:57) A.Smith right guard to CAR 18 for 2 yards (R.Manning, D.Morgan).

    2-4-CAR14 (4:37) A.Smith right guard to CAR 17 for -3 yards (S.Burton, D.Morgan).

    2-10-CAR14 :)32) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass to D.Givens to CAR 5 for 9 yards (D.Morgan, T.Cousin).

    3-6-NE30 (13:27) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass to K.Faulk to NE 35 for 5 yards (D.Morgan, D.Grant). (4 yards after catch.)

    2-10-NE10 (9:08) T.Brady pass to T.Brown to NE 15 for 5 yards (D.Morgan, W.Witherspoon).

    1-10-NE22 (7:43) A.Smith right tackle to NE 26 for 4 yards (D.Morgan).

    2-6-NE26 (7:05) A.Smith up the middle to NE 29 for 3 yards (D.Morgan, A.Wallace).

    3-3-NE29 (6:26) K.Faulk up the middle to NE 31 for 2 yards (A.Wallace, D.Morgan)

    3-1-CAR46 (2:23) A.Smith right end to CAR 40 for 6 yards (D.Morgan).

    2-8-NE34 (6:16) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass incomplete to D.Branch.
PENALTY on CAR-D.Morgan, Defensive Holding, 5 yards, enforced at NE 34 - No Play.

    1-10-CAR22 (4:21) A.Smith left guard to CAR 21 for 1 yard (M.Minter, D.Morgan).
