    Morgan agrees to extension with Panthers

    SPARTANBURG - Carolina Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan has agreed to a contract extension that will prevent him from becoming a free agent after this season.

    The Panthers have been negotiating with Morgan's agent, Drew Rosenhaus for months and the deal was reached Thursday afternoon.

    The five-year extension will keep Morgan under contract through 2010 and is worth about $28 million.

    Ugh. $5 million a year for a guy who is only solid on two downs and below average on the third? I'm hoping it's one of those silly Rosenhaus contracts where the guy will actually only get $9 million over three years or something like that.

    No. It means they move Davis to LB, Spoon to SS, Branch to DB, Minter to FS, Peppers to LB, and they cut Hankton and Smart.
