but Weinke was the same age as Stauback when he was a rookie and Weinke had the same record as Aikman in his first season.

Thats 2 different QBs you mentioned there and Roger was a graduate of the Naval Academy ( which teaches discipline) and Roger had some top dogs to throw at. I say "at" because thats all you had to do back then. Weinke might be good with a great team around him but I don't recall seeing him drill the ball like Staubach or Aikman.

Can't even use good english skills. Writing isn't hard at all if you at least sound like you know what you're talking about but that writer doesn't do that at all either.

Oh, by the way, to hell with excitement. I'm looking for a gunslinger, not a magician.

My only point basically is he shouldn't be thrown to the side simply due to his rookie record and his age.

I think Weinke would have been ok with getting benched in general, just not ok with this paticular replacement. Fox will have to swallow some pride at some point and put a QB in the game, Weinke or Fasini, just not the QB's coach.

    >> Not that I follow the Cowboys, but Weinke was the same age as Stauback when he was a rookie and Weinke had the same record as Aikman in his first season.

Correct me if I'm wrong. While Staubach was older like Weinke he was also obvious hall-of-fame material from the get-go. Aikman was 1-15 on a very bad team but he was also young and an obvious stud from the get-go. I don't think anyone sees pro-bowl QB in Weinke. To compare Weinke to either Cowgirl is ... well ... let's just say there's no comparison. At best, we were hoping that he would be average ... and that glimmer of hope is fading rapidly. Or should I just say has vanished.

on our roster? then you're looking for a magician

Would his play during preseason suffice for you?

I think winky ought to get a case of truf toe and collect his pay check for the rest of the year and sign with someone else. He's getting dicked.

About as much as you would. Don't think I'd like to be made the whipping boy because the human racehorses person offered me what he thought was an impossible contract only to be shown the folly of his deed. But hey I'm not winky. I think JR blacked out this game to keep his coach from looking like a total buffoon.

I really would not mind if Fox keeps interchanging weinke and FASANI all year long, but Peete? We already know that Peete is only around as one (or two?) year Band-aid back up so it would bug me if he plays much past the first couple of games. It may very well be true that Peete gives us the best chance of winning against Baltimore AND Detroit. We definitely need to capitalize on playing our two weakest opponents back to back and starting 2 – 0. However, we have got to find out if either of the other two younger guys look like they can keep this team moving forward for the long haul. It's a throwaway year as far as the playoffs are concerned so after Detroit let the competition begin.
LET WEINKE AND FASANI COMPETE ON THE BATTLE FIELD. Certainly at least by the Vikes game CW should get another chance to start. As soon as he screws up enough give Fasani a crack at it until HE screws the pooch, and back and forth. I think that sort of motivation just might accelerate the development of both guys and would definitely determine which one will do a better job leading our team in this particular system . . . if either. At the very worst we realize that acquiring our future QB next year (draft, FA, or trade) is the top priority and it WILL have to get addressed (finally).
