    From ESPN and Big Lenny:

His fighting words aside, Carolina Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke might find it difficult to regain his starting job, some team insiders feel. Weinke does not, they contend, react well to change. When coach John Fox pulled the rug out from under him this week, switching to Rodney Peete as the starter even though the 14th-year veteran had played just two quarters in the preseason, the move stung Weinke badly. "He saying all the right stuff publicly but, to the guys who see him every day, he's wounded pretty badly now," one veteran player said. "Given his temperment, I really don't know if he can bounce back from this."

    ouch.

How would you feel playing basketball in the play ground and the other kids picked grandpa to replace your sorry ass?

Move wasn't made to see what Wesley Walls was going to interpret Weinke's attitude to be three days after he was benched.

Did you hear Hank Goldberg call Weinke a "bust" on the Tony Kornheiser show today? Goldberg said he's got a real problem with locking onto his WRs and his immobility.

The more of these whispers that I keep hearing from all over, the more nervous and skeptical I get about Weinke. And I hate it! This team has enough problems without another QB getting stupid on them.

The more I think about Peete being the QB this week the better I feel about it, as long as he doesn't get hurt. It has been proven in the NFL that a team can win with a solid defense and a offense that doesn't make mistakes and I think this is what Fox is aiming for.

I may be wrong on this one but I never seen Weinke be anywhere to bounce back from. I don't know his ranking from last year but I kind of thought he was a mediocre QB on a team with a terrible record.
I am pulling for the Panthers as hard as I can but I don't see that Weinke at his age and his past record in the NFL is or should ever be considered a QB of the future. Just my opinion, no need to blast me or call names.;)

Not that I follow the Cowboys, but Weinke was the same age as Stauback when he was a rookie and Weinke had the same record as Aikman in his first season. I've said before, Weinke's numbers were very comparable to Aikman's in his 1-15 season , also before Emmitt Smith.

It's something else. Fox just doesn't want Weinke and that's that.

You sorry sum biscuit eater... (just kiddin)

When it all shakes out, that is exactly how I feel. Winky is not a proven NFL QB, so whats the big deal. Sure we got grandpa and un untested rookie...

For me - I find no valor in going 7-9 with Winky than we would with Fasani or Peete... If we are going to lose, lets lose with a little excitment... :D

I really wish that Fox had left W out there now; In front of a hostile homecrowd who had just seen him stink up the Browns game. Nothing but a victory would have kept these fans off his ass. If the fans become really upset then JR would get upset and Weinke would be finished for good here and probably football just like Lewis. W is on very thin ice and just one careless move (like playing him season opener at home) would probably finish him. But I now wish they had let him sink or swim sunday. I may get my wish next sunday.

Forget about Winky, whoever wrote this article needs to be benched... Its so obvious this guy is pro Winky... and he writes like its his first time... (By the way, I make no claim to having good writing skills :D)
