as I said before, he is putting up the best numbers I have EVER seen a minor leaguer put up. I dare someone to show me better stats from anyone. I knew his 108 k's had to lead the minors but I had yet to see that in writing until today. I feel pretty sure he will be on that Futures Team which is a huge honor, and then we will see him on ESPN II with the Major League All Stars.

The sooner he gets to the bigs the better. I need some pitching help in my fantasy league.

John Maine named C-USA pitcher of the year. Nice for college. Just for comparison, what were your top honors, Metro? Seems like John could be the real deal.

austin this guy IS the real deal. he throws comfortably between 90-94, and he will max out at 96. Plus he is tall and lanky and has 3 pitches he can throw for a strike. I was Metro Conf POY in 95'. Maine had one terrific season his soph year (cusa pitcher of year), but he isn't close on any UNCC career records. College awards don't amount to much in the pros. Maine is kind of a late bloomer. Hell, last year in 02' at UNCC he was like 7-7 with a 5.00 era. Go figure. He has loads of God given ability that me nor any 49er I have ever seen has/had.

Bottom line, barring injury, he should be the ace of a Big League staff for 10+ years. He's a freak.

Sweet! Not too big a jump, though. They're bringing him along slowly. What are his 3 strike pitches? Which is his best and what does he use to set-up hitters with?
