What kinda effects are you looking for, Mag?

I would think, IMO, the only real relevant effects for an accoustic would be Reverb (if your amp doesn't have it), chorus (most popular sound for accoustic, next to rev), and mabe an EQ, if your amp doesn't support an accoustic (really made for electric), with the eq not being active enough. Delay, maybe, but not used much.

    Need a tuner for sure.

Also find a decent video for lessons. A chord book is a must, one that shows figer positions for chording.

    it's not an acoustic.
I was able to get distortion and phase shifting donated to me. Kinda big steps for a beginner but he'll play with it a while. Yeah, inline tuner would be nice, and reverb's always something easy to mess around with.

I stand a little corrected. The 335 copy is an acoustic electric so it's not exactly like he's looking for an edgy sound. So he's looking at getting a cheap tube amp, which will give him a better tone, and I'd probably suggest a little reverb. Any distortion he'd want will probably be available from the amp. It'd be nice to get him something with compression in the future to clean his tone up.
I've got a Boss PS-2 for him from a friend, so that'll give him a chorus and pitch shifter if he wants it, but I figure I'll set it up for him so it's got just a tiny bit of chorus and echo to clean him up. He's still way below needing this but I want to keep him interested so he becomes a guitar player rather than a guitar collector. Whenever I'm over there anymore he's always looking at EBay and shit.
