I'm sorry, WV. I really am. Without knowing the source of your friend's depression, I cannot begin to rationalize why her church told her to get off the antidepressants. Sounds like it was definitely a serious lack in judgment, though. :(

Some people think all emotional problems can and should be solved spiritually. Much of the time I agree with that, but not always. A chemical imbalance is not going to be corrected through prayer. I think because of the misuse of antidepressants, they seem to be in this sort of gray area regarding their purpose to a lot of people. Antibiotics are much more black and white, or at least that's the perception.

Sounds like a cult to me, too. Flying a mainstream flag doesn't necessarily mean there aren't sinister (or just stupid) things going on underneath it.

That could be an interesting one. :)

The best one I've heard of is Rob's church. Here's the link: http://www.riveroakschurch.org/

They're in Lewisville, NC, just east of Winston-Salem. That's not in the area you were asking about, but they do have streaming audio of their services. You might want to check it out.

I do think its wrong to take the stem cell from the cord if it means taking a life. If a life isn't concerned a la the cord then there is no problem with it.

That really all depends on what point you technically consider it a life

nothing wrong with viagra... it makes you hard it doesn't make you cum

as long as it isn't abuse and is is used in moderation there's nothing wrong with it

Vanity is looked down upon by Christianity. If its done mearly for that reason its wrong... technically any other possible reason would be considered acceptable... I'd include having plastic surgery done to help with people who are depressed from their looks not just because they want bigger boobs, but those that have serious emotion problems over their looks.

    Same as Pain mgmt.

as long as animals are bread for it and aren't abused. When a company is checking for something they generally don't have to do the same experiment on thousands of the animals that's simply cruelty, but technically as far as Christianity is concerned Man is the lord over all the other animals and due to that it would be permitted.

jehova's witnesses don't do blood transfusions because the blood is "unclean". some have died from it.

christian scientists have also forgone medical treatments and have died because of it.

and not just the adherents of these faiths, but their children as well.
