Wiggins was the first thing I thought of when I heard we were looking at Jones.

In all fairness to our FO, Wiggins dropped as many passes as he caught for us didnt' he?

Don't know about the number of passes, but I do know there were some that came at extremely inopportune times.

of course, some might say the same thing about Muhammad (whether it's valid or not, I'm not that certain).

Wiggins did have some early drops.
Yeah, Muhammad had drops in his past, too. Of course, in the last two years, Muhammad had less than Smith in 03, and less than Colbert in 04.

I wish the league tracked drops as an official stat. I know it's subjective, but they track interceptions and picks aren't always the quarterback's fault.

They should have all kinds of 'error' stats, kinda like in baseball.

Missed blocks, drops, fumbles, burns, misstackles, etc.

Then again, while they may not be "official" stats, I'm sure there are people who keep an eye on those things.

    (position coaches, especially)

it's not official, but it is tracked

Teams grade blocking assignments, but that's not released. Fumbles are obviously tracked. Missed tackles would be interesting, yeah.

Seau usually had his fair share of missed tackles. But when he did get there, ouch :(

That's why I don't like baseball. You may have 1 or 2 errors a game. If they tracked them in football, it would be about 100 or so. Maybe more. Baseball is mostly a routine game with some interesting D and base running plays sprinkled in. Not many plays in football are routine, and there are mistakes all over. Most of them are forced, since the players interact directly with each other, and in baseball they mostly don't.
