It's called Semi-pro, but none of the players get paid. Statesville just got a team this year, and I'm thinking about going out next year. You buy the equipment, they pay for travel. 9 games a season. It sounds like they'll pretty much take anyone.

Anyone know anything about it? I think there may be a team in Gastonia.

Yeah man, Rec league football. Somebody needs to call the higherups of the league and get a Beerbarian team in Charlotte. TBR having its own football team...NOW THAT WOULD ROCK!

    I could play squished end.

    Or cornerback. Or not.

I would play left outside linebacker and any position on the offensive line!

Semi-pro football is pretty exciting. We've had a team for about three years up here. The first year they were called the Iowa Tractors (stupid name) I worked out with them a few times, but with a new born child and a hesitant wife...I decided not to play.
    STILL regret it!
At 33, my window is closing fast, but I might try to play next year.
If your thinking about it JUST DO IT! If nothing else...at least you tried it, that's better than I have done at this point.

    Minor League Football

There is an awesome minor league football team in Gastonia called the Gladiators. You should check out their web address at www.eteams.com/gladiatorfootball. I know that they are still accepting players for this season. Their first home game is August 3 as Ashbrook High School. I had a buddy play for them last year, and he said it was awesome. The team was rated #1 in the state and in the Top 20 nationally. They have lots of guys who played college ball, but lots of guys who only played in high school - but were very good. I only saw them play once, but you would not believe the intensity and how hard these guys hit. I plan to be there August 3!

    Web address correction

For some reason, web address for Gladiators above does not allow access to their site (although it is correct). For those interested, try www.eteamz.com/gladiatorfootball. Sorry for the confusion.
