If he thinks that he is off, if not retarded. 10 other teams had a shot at him after we gave up the 14 slot.

Wonder what the "guinea pig" language really says.

That doesn't sound good at all. Money differences can be resolved, but if we're asking for weird shit, they can just stick to their guns. We need him more than he needs us.

He would have to wait for millions of dollars if he doesnt sign, thats probably pretty important. We havent had a holdout since 03, and dont have a history of asking for "weird shit". I think his agent is a bozo.

You think so? I think it's at worst a very symbiotic relationship, considering Beason has not signed a pro contract ever. It's not like he has "fuck you" money in the bank to fall back on like say, Lance Briggs.

I realize someone would pay/draft him next year, but a lot can change in a year.

No kidding, the WR from USC (Williams?) sure didn't benefit from a year with no football.

Are these negotiating techniques, or just retardation?
"I don't know if I'm ever going to talk to (him) again"?
and what the hell could we be asking for, that no one else is? This should be a standard contract.

    Never wasn't used.

I took it to mean that particular day, but it could mean he's not intending to change the offer so nothing to talk about from his standpoint. I am left to make guesses as to what he meant.

Something could have been left out of that quote that would have put it in a different context.

The things Hurney put in that they object to are probably what most of us fans would like to hear.

Exactly. No way Beason would be a 1st rounder next year if he didn't sign. He'd probably be 3rd rounder at best, the way the Good Ole Boys club goes. That would be a significant loss of cash.

I think Beason still needs us pretty well. We won't 'need' him until Morgan gets knocked out.

Dude, Mike Williams went 10th overall and got a buttload of money. Beason might not go in the first round if he sat out a year, but he wouldn't drop lower than the second. If we are asking for weird shit, it could conceivably be better for him to do that than accept a contract with unfavorable stipulations. It's not like we're going to be giving him massive money at #25 anyway.

Mike Williams didn't screw over an NFL team by holding out for a year though.
