Minter was a good player for the panthers, no doubt. But a statue? C'mon, we're talking about hall of famer type stuff. Should they introduce him at half time? Yes. Ring of Honor....probably. A statue is a saying that someone was bigger than life, like Bret Favre, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, etc. Mike Minter, although a great athlete and a great panther, is NOT in any way in this class.

Per ESPN, JR was crying at the presser. He went to Nebraska last year when MM lost his parent. There will be a statue for MM within 2 years. Bank on it

I think over time Rucker and Mills, on the field, would be equals for credentials and statistics. Overall impact, I don't believe so.
That said, Rucker was highly underrated for years.

It was suggested, at some point, that the front four from 2002-2005 should have a statue somewhere (Rucker, Jenkins, Buckner, Peppers). I thought that was a cool idea, but I know people would be bitching about Buckner being in a statue, or Peppers not having his own statue down the line, or how unfair it is that Peppers has two statues.

I think there's a tendency for young teams to 'force' tradition. Just let things play out. 20, 30 years from now we can establish who our all-time great players are.

the idea of a front four statue would be fun. Problem is, Buckner meant something to that D but he's not the stature of the other three, all of which were impact players.

Buck was the least talented of the four, but he was also the brains behind the operation. He was basically a coach on the field. I doubt we would have gone to the Super Bowl without him.

One of the newer trends in bobbleheads is a duo. How about a 4 figure bobblehead with the front four

no, not seriously. Weinke was a statue in the pocket. Beuerlein was 20x the QB Weinke ever was.

I know the Mills statue was up before he was diagnosed. I was talking about the here and now, as people compare the 2.

Anyway, after what I witnessed in Spartanburg, the mold for Minter's statue is being cast as we speak.
