afaik, mack is UFA too, so it could possibly happen...the jags have been able to rush consistently even with Taylor's plethora of injuries, so this might be a good sign for our run-first offense.

    New O-Line coach named

    Maser named offensive line coach
    January 29, 2003

    Panthers.com

The Carolina Panthers have named Mike Maser offensive line coach. A veteran of 34 years in coaching, Maser joins the Panthers after serving in the same capacity for the past eight seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. "Mike Maser is an outstanding football coach who is an excellent teacher," said Carolina Panthers Head Coach John Fox. "Jacksonville has consistently been one of the leading rushing teams in the League, and Mike has played a role in the development of several Pro Bowl players."
In 2002, Jacksonville ranked 10th in the NFL in rushing and fifth in rushing yards per attempt. With 2,089 yards rushing, it also marked the fourth time since 1998 that the Jaguars rushed for more than 2,000 yards.

"I am very excited to be here and I am looking forward to working with the guys," Maser said. "We have a good mix of people, and I am really excited about the opportunities that the Carolina Panthers present."

From 1997-2002, Jacksonville's 107 rushing touchdowns led the League and from 1998-2002, the Jaguars ranked sixth in the NFL in rushing yards. Jacksonville was the only team to rush for more than 2,000 yards each season from 1998-2000 and led the NFL in rushing in 1999. Maser's front line helped running back Fred Taylor score 17 touchdowns as a rookie in 1998, the third-highest total ever by a rookie in League history, and cleared lanes for him to rush for at least 100 yards in nine consecutive games in 2000, a figure that tied the third-longest streak in NFL history.

During Maser's tenure, left tackle Tony Boselli was selected to the Pro Bowl every season from 1996-2000, including a 1999 campaign in which Boselli and right tackle Leon Searcy were both chosen to play in the contest. In addition, Maser tutored three other players who were all-rookie selections: center Michael Cheever (1996), guard Brad Meester (2000) and tackle Maurice Williams (2001).

Prior to entering the NFL in 1994 with Jacksonville, Maser was the offensive line coach for Boston College for 13 seasons from 1981-93. He also coached at Maine (1979-80), Bluefield (WV) State (1974-78), Marshall (1973), the U.S. Military Academy (1971-72) and the University of Buffalo (1969).

A native of Clayton, NY, Maser was a three-year starter at guard for the University of Buffalo.

    Boudreau quit.

Honestly, our line took a step back last year. Here's hoping Maser can get the guys moving in the right direction (and on the snap count) in 2003.

Boudreau went to Jax with Del Rio.

The link on the Jags site seems to have disappeared, but you can find the story at Panthers.com. Click the link on the right about "Panthers coaches join Jaguars."

Maser seems like a great grab.

Interesting if we grab an O-lineman in the 1st round, which is definitely a possiblity.
