The only thing that sucks about Coach K's success (IMO) is the media apologizing when he loses and people including me expecting so much. They should just shut the fuck up and say if he gets it together by year end he did a good coaching job, which he usually does, but they should just go ahead and say right now, Duke looks like shit (when they call the games). Even though they look horrible now, I'll wager he has them at least in contention at year end to make the tournament and 3rd or 4th in the ACC. They have no chemistry now. He has to figure that out.

The fact that Duke loses two games in a row and everyone wonders what is wrong shows where the Duke program is at. He's the best coach in college basketball today and should win over 1,000 games in his career. Every head coach has players that don't pan out. He shouldn't be criticized for his ability to recruit well. He wasn't the foundation of Duke basketball by any stretch. Duke was pretty good under Eddie Cameron and one of the best teams of the 1960's under Vic Bubas but went through a down stretch under Waters before Foster got that team with Spanarkel, Gminski, and Banks in '78. Make no mistake about it though, Duke was no where near where they are now when K came. Foster left Duke to go coach at South Carolina. Didn't Jason Williams graduate? He graduated in 3 years cause I remember the whole fuss in the title year about how other schools were going to start having their kids take tons of classes in the summer like Duke has so they could leave early for the NBA and get their degree in three years.

so guys came in with skills. great. battier's growth went from fourth option as a freshman to player of the year by the time he graduated. and to say reddick didn't evolve his game is retarded as well. granted, i'm not sure it was as dramatic as vitale wanted to proclaim, but he was a totally different player.

coach k has 3 titles. and is on pace to break the all-time wins record faster than anyone else. you don't do that being over-hyped.
