Couldn't agree more on both points. I've been saying that Alabama fields an NFL farm team, but I'm not sure if their defense isn't better than a few NFL defenses today. Their defensive kids are big, fast, and smart.

Alshon Jeffrey is getting too much hype in the mock world, as well as Michael Floyd for that matter.

Magnus: Agree on the comment about getting better in the trenches. Franchises that constantly upgrade OL and DL/Front 7 through the draft in early rounds seem to stay on top for longer i.e. Green Bay, Baltimore, Steelers, New England. The Eagles have tried to do this, but have missed on a few prospects. I would love for us to focus on this in April. Finally having a QB allows us to do this.

I believe that you are going to start seeing Josh Chapman move up teams draft boards very quickly. Guy is a tree trunk.

No college defense is better than the worst NFL defenses. There is a reason the majority of college players don't end up on NFL teams after 2-3 years.

i'm not entirely comfy with the linebacker situation going into next season as well. beason had a blown achilles, and davis has a perpetually injured knee that most likely ends his career. not necessarily advocating lb in that projected 6-10 slot, just something to keep in mind..

Beason & Anderson are both under contract. Unless one of them gets cut, which won't happen, then drafting a linebacker early on is both unlikely and unwise. They'll probably grab one in the 5th or 6th, though.

This was pretty tongue in cheek. The talent and size is definitely there, however, and you will see a lot of these players in the NFL for lengthy careers.

A lot of people feel that way about picking WRs high. You might think our WRs are " promising" and that is enough for you. I do not like what would happen to this offense if Smith gets hurt. See San Diego.

Blackmon is very agressive, strong and hard to bring down. Give him a Smith/Stewart stiff arm and I think he'll require a double team which will open up a lot of mismatches not just insurance for Smith.

What is killing this defense is the inability to stop the run. It's a bit early, but at this point, there does not appear to be anyone that will justifiy that first pick. Hopeful Hogan can show something.

I absolutely don't want to draft a guy 1st round that returns kicks/punts, but I'd almost be willing to drop our 4th into a guy who can't do anything else. We're so bad there right now.

Isn't a lot of that on the blocking, though?

a portion, I wouldn't say how much. I think my part in saying this is more that I want it fixed once and for all, even if the guy's 5'5.
