    What a loser.

No one felt worse about Florida State's one-point loss to Miami than Xavier Beitia. The sophomore kicker had a chance to give the Seminoles a huge upset win over the nation's No. 1 team in the final second of the game but his attempt sailed just left of the upright. After the miss, Beitia went to the ground in disbelief. If he wasn't already in enough pain after missing a 43-yard field goal, a person who appeared to be associated with the Miami football team rushed on the field next to the grief-stricken kicker and screamed taunts in his direction.

Shortly after this individual yelled at Beitia, FSU holder and punter Chance Gwaltney chased him down and knocked him to the ground.

Associated Press photographer J. Pat Carter captured the reprehensible actions of this individual (right). When this photo became public it drew the ire of Seminole fans on the Warchant.com Message Boards. The photo also was brought to the attention of the University of Miami Athletic Department.

Miami's Director of Athletics, Paul Dee, issued the following statement regarding the individual in the photo on Monday:

The person in the picture is a former student volunteer with the athletic program. The actions captured in the picture are unacceptable and show a complete lack of discretion. On behalf of the University of Miami, I want to apologize to Xavier Beitia, his coaches and teammates and all of our friends at Florida State.

As much as I wanted Miami to win that game, I feel fucking awful for that kid. He's what - 20 years old max? Now for the rest of his life he's "Wide Left". Great game ends up being settled by a kick.... just not the way I'd like to see it go down. An ESPN story said he was still crying about it hours later.

Edit: Perhaps ripping the bastard's big ears off would've been an appropriate response.
