I definitely see us taking one late first or early second....but not the first, no matter how much Mendenhall or Stewart rocks...

The Pats and the Colts also have Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

Neither of the Giants two primary running backs were first day picks. Just sayin.

At any rate I'd be happy with four line picks in a row, two in day 1 and two in 3. In the 4th, we can still find a very solid contribute-now RB that can be the situational "he's a big back" or "he's a speedy back" type player most of you are looking for.

I don't have a problem with taking a back in the first. I also don't have a problem with taking a T or a DE.

As far as what was done in past drafts, it shouldn't be relevent to what the needs are with the present draft.
There is a higher potential to get a decent back later than a lineman, but I believe there is a higher potential to get a great back than a great lineman with that 1st pick. Damned if you do damned if you don't. I think Long or Clady have that potential and McFadden, Mendenhall and Stewart do as well. I would clump Otah, Williams and Felix Jones at the next level.

disagree. Past history that teams just don't pick backs that close together this high up, suggests it's less likely we actually do so. I also just don't think it's something the team is likely to do.

Had Shelton or FA worked out as planned I'd be inclined to agree. I think you have to look at your present situation and needs and make your move without reguard to what other teams do or have done.

LBs and RBs are around the action where they have to contend with the fast guys and the big ones all at once. They get used up.

As far is if we will or not, who knows. If we are planning for the long term, I doubt we will grab a RB early, If the FO is worried about their future and it rests on success this season, then it makes sense.
