I'm not a huge fan of his. I like his motor and he had a nice season, but prior to this season he didn't do much at all. He is undersized a bit in my opinion to hold the edge.

Last pre-season Rivera went ahead and put Hardy as the starter above Everette Brown because of size and this was with Hardy not even playing yet because he was coming back from injury.

He's a nice player but I wouldn't go there at 9. For someone in the top 10 you gotta have the complete package. Still like Coples more than him.

He's be an awful choice. If you want a 3-4 rusher than take Courtney Upshaw, who is dramatically superior. I don't think either Upshaw or Ingram would be effective as a 4-3 end, though.

I bet if your jobs depended on it none of you would pick Ingram at 9. This aint a pokemon card game guys, although the logic here is starting to resemble one. Ingram is a nice player but come on....

The Panthers brought in Coples and Chandler Jones. They have the 3-4, 4-3 hybrid types on roster already, so they do not seem interested in Ingram's skill set.

Hardy hit a wall last season. I read that he needs to be part of a rotation to be more effective. However, was he not recovering from a motorcycle accident during the offseason last year? My point: Maybe his game will improve with conditioning. He is not a leader, so he needs the energy of the locker room to motivate him. Without that last year (lockout), his lackluster play is understandable. He needs to work on the run game, but better linebacking helps that.

Finally, Hurney and Rivera have spoken very highly of Thomas Keiser, who appeared in 8 games last season and registered 4 sacks.

Unless they see a dramatic upgrade, it is possible we stay with what we have and address other needs. Push up the middle and improved CB play will help. I think they had to take a look at Coples and Jones because their size and skill sets match our needs, and the Giants with 3 stud similar DEs won the super bowl.

I am pretty sure that we will address the three positions Gregory said were deep--OL (guard), WR, and DL. Does that mean we should address CB early?

Keiser & Hardy are both nice backup DEs, but they definitely need a starter. It's not as big a need as another starting cornerback, but DE fits better there since Coples is a very talented and solidly productive player. The good news is that DE, DT, and CB should all have some decent options at #40.

Coples is my pick at 9. Draft "experts" are saying everything about his personality and playing style that they said about Peppers when he was coming out.
Not saying Coples is Peppers but he reminds me of him, especially his low key, shy personality.
