    Monitoring Melvin
Dec 23 - Bernie Bickerstaff said there was nothing to a Friday report in the East Valley Tribune that Phoenix is again interested in Bobcats reserve Melvin Ely.

"Not again," Bickerstaff said when asked about the report. "That was this summer."

Ely's agent, Dan Fegan, tried to broker a deal for his client with the Suns over the summer before choosing to re-sign with the Bobcats. -- Gaston Gazette
    Friday's report ...

While the Suns aren't going to mess with anything during a 15-game winning streak, they are still monitoring the Melvin Ely situation in Charlotte carefully.
Ely isn't playing for the Bobcats and would love to join former teammate Jumaine Jones in Phoenix. -- East Valley Tribune

Ely is our only good player. Why would we get rid of him?

yes. McInnis would be his backup. Don't really think McInnis being here is a good thing.

I've never been impressed with McInnis. I don't think he'd be a good fit.

He'd be a decent stop-gap while Brevin is out.

This will completely alienate Dook fans, and Freakshow is gonna lose it if his boy gets traded. Questionable.

Uhh, if drafting Felton and May, and trading for Jake fucking Voskuhl of all people hasn't alienated Dook fans, nothing will. I support my hometown team, no matter who they sign. If McInnis can help us, I'm all for it. I'm curious as to why Ely never gets any PT though.
