and New York is all over it. But from what I hear, Mr. Weiss not the most reliable, neither is the Daily News. Also, UCLA is reportedly interested in Roy Williams (keep reading):

North Carolina reportedly prepared to fire Doherty to land Williams
    By Dick Weiss
    New York Daily News
    (KRT)
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The University of North Carolina is considering firing third-year coach Matt Doherty and apparently is poised to make a second run at Roy Williams of Kansas if that happens, according to sources close to the situation.
Administrators at the perennial ACC power apparently are upset over reports that as many as six, possibly seven players - including prize freshmen Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton and Sean May - are threatening to leave following a discordant 19-16 season that ended Wednesday with a loss to Georgetown in the NIT quarterfinals.
The players met with AD Dick Baddour on Thursday to voice their concerns. If there are mass defections, Doherty’s job could be in serious jeopardy.

    By The Associated Press
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Kansas coach Roy Williams hasn’t ruled himself out as a candidate for the vacant UCLA job.
But he doesn’t believe such speculation is a distraction for his team.
“My team believes me and they know my focus is with them,” Williams said Wednesday as the Jayhawks prepared to play Duke in the West Regional semifinals. “If you guys don’t ask me, they would never know the question is out there.
“I have had no problems with distractions and it hasn’t been a distraction to the guys. I have not talked to UCLA.”
The 52-year-old Williams is completing his 15th season as the head coach at Kansas and has a 415-100 career record.
Sophomore guard Aaron Miles said he expects Williams to remain at Kansas.
“If he’s not going to take his dream job at North Carolina, where he grew up and played, he’s not going to take the job at UCLA,” Miles said.
Williams was offered the North Carolina job nearly three years ago, but turned it down.
The UCLA job opened March 17 when Steve Lavin was fired after seven years. Among others mentioned as candidates are Pittsburgh’s Ben Howland, Gonzaga’s Mark Few, Utah’s Rick Majerus and Marquette’s Tom Crean.

If the administration wants rid of Doh, fine. Talk with the players, and make it happen. Tell Doh to clean the office so Harrick can move in...

But the PLAYERS? That's like the NBA. Not in defense of Doh's behavior (purportedly) with them, but those kids need to learn this isn't high school. What's their gripe? He yells at them?

I hope they all transfer to Texas Tech. Then they'll know what "discipline" really is...

What a stupid thing to go after Williams again. And if he took the job, what a stupid thing for him to do.

I feel bad for Doh, though. He's got too many people that think they should be doing better, and I'm not sure that's the case.

IMHO, Baddour should be canned. After all, it's his indecision that has placed not only Carolina's basketball program in dissarray but the football program as well.

Since Mack Brown left for Texas and Coach Smith retired, UNC's athletic programs have been in total chaos!

    Baddour, YOU SUCK!

Keep Doherty and let him right the ship. I said it yesterday in another thread, you can't allow the parents and players run your programs. Layeth down the laws and either they live with them or they go to another school. It's that simple.

A link sure would be nice, cause you know sly is famous for changing what an article says...........so he makes us all a little bit of a skeptic when someone else posts something like this.
