probably was already posted but here goes:

Profootballtalk.com has learned that the new hire of the Dallas Cowboys, Bill "Don't Tell Me I Have A Body Like Babe Ruth" Parcells, might actually have the ability to hire present Carolina offensive coordinator Dan Henning (a long time Parcells confidant and coach) as the 'Boys offensive guy, since Carolina Coach John Fox wants to hire soon-to-be-let go Giants offensive (depending on the way you interpret that word) coordinator Sean Payton, who worked with Fox while both were with the Giants.

    what's the word on Payton?

Well the Giant's score about as much as we do. 59 times in the red zone and only 20 something tds. NOT TO GOOD.

Payton got shitcanned and Fassel took over. That's what.

People might bitch about Henning, but I'll be sorry to see him go - particularly to be replaced with some guy running the same type offense without the super bowl rings and pedigree.

    But hey, that's me.

is it possible that things would get even more offesively conservative?

not really, not at all. While the Giants weren't successful this year, they were good last year and the Super Bowl year with similar talent to this year's. They weren't executing well at all, and had become a little more stale than years' past, but partly due to a neglecting of the offense past Shockey.

Payton does similar things, but isn't as predictable, and runs more formation mismatches and goes with a lot of the things we simply don't run - slants, screens. He kinda got scapegoated, IMO, because Fassel's adjustments should have been added long ago. That Fassel did it himself allows him to keep his job.

Not that Payton's the shit, but he's better than Henning IMO, and much better than Mike Pope or Skipper, each of which would presumably get to interview if we don't get the right guy.

We need a QBs coach either way.

Super Bowl rings? Sure, in the 80s.

I remember him getting some mention of becoming a head coach the year the Giants made the Super Bowl I believe. But with Fassel taking over the playcalling makes you wonder about the guy.

I kind of wish Henning would have stayed around. It was just his first year as our OC after all.

I'm all for Payton coming here and all, that's great, but why the laterial move?

Weis didn't move. Why should Payton?

I would like to see a list of candidates on their way up to becoming OC's, college or pro's.

Payton's best success seems to have been as a QB coach. I'd like to see Payton come here as asst OC/QB coach under Henning for a year or two and then take over for Henning.
