Duke's best teams in the last ten years have been the ones where they had a good big man who they could use inside to compliment the penetration and 3 point shooting. Elton Brand then Carlos Boozer then Shelden Williams but now they do not have that guy. I am sure Coach K would love to have another guy like that but until they do they are not going to contend for a national title. They will still be strong in the ACC and beat up on UNC from time to time like they did this year in Chapel Hill....

Exactly, this team would have killed for even a Casey Sanders.

edit: But it's not like Duke has a ton of great shooters, either. They needed one more. DeMarcus was never a great 3 point shooter and although Henderson got better over the year, he isn't the answer either. What we ended up with was our best shooter (Paulus) jacking up shots at the beginning of the shot clock, leading to long rebounds and 3 on 1 breaks against Paulus. It was horrible.

Duke shooters are not as good as they have been. It is hard to be Reddick, but they were good enough had there been an inside scorer to balance things out. They really need to recruit a top power forward.

Singler needs to bulk up and work on his post game....he finishes around the basket...If he can do that and shoot from the outside like he does he will be tough to guard.

Yeah if Singler can put on 10 lbs of muscle, it will make him tougher to guard, allow him to d up and rebound better, and not wear down over the season. Duke's improvement next year will be soley based on how much better Singler and Henderson get. Paulus is probably as good as he can be except for the still occasional poor decisions.

I hope so, his minutes went way down at the end of the season and I wasn't sure why.

I think party b/c of the Miami game when K put him in and Miami went match up zone, Smith was lost and i think made 4 consecutive TOs.....

K it seems uses the military approach to an extent....good or bad I dont know.

Folks wondered why King didnt get much more PT and Zoub too.....simple, they were too slow for the pace of the game and King's D was not very good....Zoubek can become better in the post but when he cant even put up shots agains 6'8 guys under the basket, there isnt much K can do.....Thomas while not a Center was at least quick and could also provide a better offensive option (although not much greater).....remember Thomas did manage 10pts against THE GREATEST BASKET BALL PLAYER IN THE ACC!!111111
