When Michael Vick entered the draft I thought he would fail as a QB. I just felt the speed of the game would fianlly catch up to him.
Now that I have watched him run the show for the Falcons a little this year...I stand corrected, IN A BIG WAY!
He has a great command of the game and things still look to be pretty easy for him. Not starting last year really help acclimate him to the Pro game, IMO.
Very efficient, has great escapability (DUH!), and has yet to throw an int. (unless I missed it today).

    It's official, I'm a fan!

I thought he would do well... just not this well. That play I discussed in my thread about funny speaks to the respect he has earned and the flexibility he gives an offense.

I was channel surfing through my Sunday Ticket choices all afternoon, primarily watching the Eagles vs. Bears contest. Found myself going mostly to the Ravens vs Falcons game.
The one play that made me realize it was when we rolled out, about to get scissored he took a step back into a defender at his feet and zipped a nice pass for a first down. The velocity on the ball and the fact that he was moving backward...I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

No worries... Dan Reeves has Mack Brown Syndrome... or vice versa... :D

Dan Reeves will be gone next year. 2 years at the latest. I'm no Dan Reeves fan - just a Vick fan. The best line I've heard on Vick/Reeves has been (paraphrasing) "Reeves has a Porsche. The problem is that Dan like to drive a Taurus." I thought that was a riot. Part of the reason I'm rooting for Vick is the Va Tech connection. The other part is because I like to say I told you so to people (not this board - I just took a lot of shit from friends for saying he'd be a great NFL player). I've always thought he's a better version of McNabb (or will be one day if he keeps his head together). Shoot, I thought McNabb would NEVER graduate. He was a GREAT college player. Big East schools threw parties when he finally left Syracuse. (On a side note, has anyone noticed that Syracuse has just blown on offense since McNabb left?). Vick has better legs and a stronger arm. The key - just like with McNabb those first few years - will be to find that balance of running and passing that keeps him from getting killed. He still fumbles a shitload too. Did today but it never hurt Atlanta.

McFly - I know the play you are talking about. Falcs going right to left and he zipped the ball to a WR streaking down the bottom of the screen while two guys were hanging on him.

Both Atlanta and San Diego have to feel good about that trade (which Piper called in his mock draft three months prior :) ).

Atlanta's winning with their B game. That's scart.

Vick didn't throw effectively in the first half, a rating of 20, but they had a good D and Vick avoided critical mistakes and won the game in the second half.

How effortlessly Vick can throw the ball is what is really scary. The ball just jumps out of his hand with just a little flick of the wrist, and I can't say that about anyone else in the league. Once he gets better at reading defenses and throw accurately, then he gets really good.

I still think he's got a long way before McNabb. Vick is small, I don't think he will be able to take what McNabb does, who can deliver a hit just as well. McNabb has become an effective pocket passer, who just happens to have the speed and vision of a top tier running back.

people wanted to pigeonhole him as Randall Cunnningham. Randall had both scat and arm, but he was stupid.
Vick's not stupid. But he's short, and reading coverages will just be harder. He'll have to work at it.

He's more talented than McNabb, but McNabb to me is more of a QB. It all comes very natural to Donovan. We'll see how it works out with Vick, he's a fine QB already, but I don't know if he's a championship level guy. McNabb will win a championship, and probably soon.

i remember going round and round with colling about vick. i didn't think he was the best qb out there, but that you HAD to draft him and wait for him to develop. you just had to. you didn't want to be the team passing on vick. he saw otherwise, but that was probably his cavaliers bias showing. :)

Collin actually admitted to being "begrudgingly wrong" about his "Michael Vick will NEVER be a successful QB" or similar assinine comment, before he pouted and ran off, on my other board. It was interesting.
