Maurices is decent...its just that mustard crap that ruins it

the one location is a civil war shrine you can get 8x11 glossy photos of the State House(capitol) with the rebel flag flying on top...rebel flag socks, hats, shirts etc

some good 'que in Columbia is Hudsons Smokehouse...they got a couple different suaces...and Sundrop and Cheerwine in long neck bottles...its actually in Lexington(not to be confused with the real Lexington BBQ)

I didn't go to that location. Now I understand what Sportsgirl was talking about.

I didn't care for the mustard either. I must humbly say that the Boston Butts that I cook are much better than Maurices.

I only ate Maurices once...I thought the meat ok, you could taste the smoke in it, but I just didnt care for the mustard too much

I have had other mustard que and "it is what it is"

and I still dont know whats up with the rebel stuff.....dude seems set in his ways and wont let it go.hes got rebel flags on top of his buildings. apparently several grocery stores wont even sell his sauce(which sucks) anymore.

If he is the one I am thinking about someone told me he got in a lot of trouble several years ago for refusing to serve blacks. Apparently he used to have a lot more locations. I have never ate there but I have seen his billboards along the interstate and wondered how he got away with the rebel flags. Seems stupid to me, to alienate part of your possible customer base.

Both of his sons have seperate chains that server the same crap. Melvins & Bessengers. Stupidity must run in the family. He used to have his bbq in grocery stores until they all pulled it off the shelf.
